Pema, from a yak-herding family in Sakteng, northeast Bhutan, grew up supporting his family’s livelihood, which depends entirely on their yaks. As the eldest child, he took on herding responsibilities at a young age while nurturing his dream of completing his education. Now a dedicated Loden Scholar, Pema is pursuing studies in environmental management, aiming to address the pressing environmental challenges faced by his community.
