On November 16, 2024, our founder, Dr. Karma Phuntsho, was bestowed with Asia’s most prestigious distinction—the Ramon Magsaysay Award, a celebration of Greatness of Spirit and Transformative Leadership.
Dr. Karma Phuntsho received this eminent honor in recognition of his extraordinary commitment to bridging Bhutan’s profound cultural heritage with the opportunities of the modern age. Through his visionary leadership at the Loden Foundation, he has inspired generations of young Bhutanese to cherish their roots while confidently shaping their future.
Established in 1957 to commemorate Ramon Magsaysay, the seventh President of the Philippines, the award is Asia’s premier prize and highest honor. It recognizes individuals and organizations across the continent for their selfless service, transformative leadership, and steadfast dedication to integrity and excellence.
Widely acclaimed as the “Nobel Prize of Asia,” the Ramon Magsaysay Award celebrates the power of positive change and the enduring impact of inspiring leadership in fields such as community service, public administration, journalism, literature, creative arts, international understanding, and peacebuilding. The award ceremony was held at the Metropolitan Theatre in Manila, Philippines, and was attended by Loden’s President, Mr. Sangay Tshering; Communications Officer, Mr. Kinley C. Tenzin; and our cherished friends and supporters from France, Gerard and Anne Tardy.
