Yoering-Ma is an agri-tech startup based in Memelhakha, Thimphu, dedicated to transforming biodegradable waste into high-quality organic fertilizer through sustainable composting and vermicomposting systems. Founded by graduates in Organic Agriculture, the venture addresses urban food waste management, soil degradation, and reliance on chemical fertilizers by converting organic waste into nutrient-rich compost using earthworm-based biological processing.

Operating on a circular economy model, Yoering-Ma collects food and organic waste from urban areas and processes it into premium vermicompost suitable for agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, and indoor plants. This reduces landfill waste, lowers methane emissions, and contributes to cleaner urban environments while supporting Bhutan’s national goals of environmental conservation and climate resilience.

The enterprise has partnered with Thimphu Thromde and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies, strengthening its expertise in municipal waste recovery and scalable waste-to-resource solutions. In addition to producing enriched vermicompost, Yoering-Ma is developing a compact composting-vermicomposting machine tailored for urban settings, enabling decentralized waste management for municipalities, institutions, and households.

Beyond production, the start-up promotes awareness of sustainable waste management, organic farming, and environmental stewardship. By turning waste into valuable organic inputs, Yoering-Ma contributes to healthier soils, sustainable food systems, and green entrepreneurship in Bhutan.
