The Loden offers seed money to the second batch of entrepreneurs

Loden Entrepreneurs 2009The second batch of Loden entrepreneurs has been selected on the 24th October 2009.

Following the two day crash course on the entrepreneurship programme conducted by the Loden Foundation on 25 and 26 April, 2009, the foundation held final selection interview on 22, 23 and 24 October, 2009 in Thimphu.

The Foundation received total of 84 business applications in 2009 competing for the business capital fund out of which 25 were shortlisted and interviewed by the board comprising of both international and local business experts.  The board has finally selected nine aspiring entrepreneurs from various districts with wide range of businesses. The selected entrepreneurs will receive interest free loan in the third week of November, 2009 ranging from Nu. 150,000 to Nu.400, 000 and they are expected to start repaying the loan by 31 May 2010.

Besides regular monitoring by the Foundation, the organization will also help the entrepreneurs through international and local mentors. The mentors will guide and provide professional support in their businesses. The entrepreneurs are offered six months of grace period after which they are expected to repay the loan on the monthly instalment basis. However, to those who do not have easy excess to the financial institutions, in Lhuntse and Zhemgang, they can repay their loan after every four months.

The Foundation plans to conduct the third batch of the Loden Entrepreneurship programme in April, 2010.
