Loden plans to join hands with Kiva and YBI
5 May, 2009 - Loden may enter into partnership with Kiva, an online micro-credit programme.
Following the conference attended by Bruce Bunting and Robert Daly of Bhutan Foundation, Darren Miao of Kiva and Loden's director Karma Phuntsho, it appears likely that Loden will join hands with Kiva to help more young entrepreneurs in Bhutan by 2010. Kiva (www.kiva.org) was founded in the US with the aim of bridging the lenders around the world with the beneficiaries in developing countries via the internet. Currently, it works in about 50 countries.
Karma Phuntsho also had a second meeting with Sarah Mcmillan of Youth Business International in London on Loden's plans to join the programme as a member. YBI is anetwork organisation for 37 youth business programmes around the world that help young people to start up in business. The YBI Network (www.youth-business.org) provides access to capital and business mentoring for young people who have a business idea but who are unable to access funding elsewhere. It is a part of the Prince's Trust, a leading charitable organization in the UK which promotes entrepreneurship. Later that week, Karma also met Andrew Devenport, the chief executive officer of YBI and discussed plans to have a formal meeting in London
