A Dream Come True
In 2006, an idea struck me while I as sipping on a cup of tea after a tiring day at work and teaching the kids which was then my part-time job. I started exploring the idea but I had to put that on hold because of several reasons until I read about entrepreneurship program run by the Loden Foundation.
The idea of the children bookshop refreshed in my mind and I wrote a proposal to open the first exclusive children bookshop in Thimphu called the tashi children’s bookshop- read to lead. With financial support from Loden Foundation, we opened on 27th November 2011 with a small opening ceremony with friends, family and well wishers.
It has been challenging for few initial months but at the same time it has been a great learning experience. But just as I build this project with all my heart, I believe, this are just teething issues that will all go away some day. With support from my host organization, we intend to be a leading supplier of children’s book in the country. For now I am grateful that I still have support from Loden Foundation.
We sell good quality books for children ranging from ages 2- 16. Our collections feature fairy tales, educational and activity books, classics, learning phonics, origami for children and many more. You can visit us anytime. We are located below Karma’s Coffee, same building as Loden Foundation.
