Entrepreneurship training in the south
20 November 2011 - The Loden Foundation successfully conducted its 6th bi-annual entrepreneurship training in Phuntsholing on 19 and 20 November, 2011. This is first of such training by the foundation in Phuntsholing and it intends to conduct the programme every alternative year in Phuntsholing to give equal opportunity to aspiring entrepreneurs in this part of Bhutan.
The training was conducted by a group of professional trainers from Institute for Management Studies (IMS), Gedu College of Business Studies and regional BCCI office in Phuntsholing. One of the leading entrepreneurs supported by Loden, Mr Karma Yoenten, the managing proprietor of Greener Way joined the trainers group to share his business experience and the challenges he faced as an entrepreneur.
The participants were trained on the basic elements of entrepreneurship such as how to start small business ventures and legal obligations to start businesses in order to prepare and better position the budding entrepreneurs to start business ventures. The training also focussed on marketing and competition so that the aspiring entrepreneurs will be more informed on marketing strategies and skills to overcome competitors in the market. The two days crash course also highlighted business management & operations and financial analysis. As the capital fund is generally found to be the major obstacle especially for the budding entrepreneurs, the participants were trained on the basics of writing good business propositions
The training saw 35 aspiring entrepreneurs with range of educational background who came from different regions of Bhutan including Thimphu, Paro, Samtse and Gelegphu. The co-ordinator says, “I was delighted to see the participants with brilliant business idea. They attended the workshop not because they have nothing to do but more importantly they are looking forward to starting their own business”.
Loden will conduct the next entrepreneurship training session in Thimphu in April, 2012.
