LEP reports strong progress of most entrepreneurs
The Loden Entrepreneurship Programme (LEP) produces a new progress report on the 16 entrepreneurs who are supported by the programme since 2008.
Highlight of the report are:
Mrs Bimla Rai of the Niche Financial Service who began operating her business with 3 female employees has now 6 working staffs due to the increasing demand of the customers.
Mrs Deki Wangmo of the Tyre Resoling Unit reports that she can make three shifts a day during peak hours which is equivalent to 18 tyres a day.
Mrs Namgay of the Paint House is supplying her paints to all the automobile workshops in Thimphu and in recognition of the quality of the service, she was awarded a contract to paint the Buddha head which is being constructed at Kuenselphodrang, Thimphu.
Mr Yenten Jasmtsho from the Online Classified has developed a very popular website under www.classified.bt and has been the first entrepreneur to fully repay the LEP loan.
Mrs Tshewang Lhamo opened a Health Spa in Changjiji and its running successfully.
Mr Sonam Dorji, the first entrepreneur to offer Water Tank Cleaning Service in Bhutan has now cleaned over 500 water tanks.
Mrs. Kuenzang Lhaden opened a Beauty Parlour in Zhemgang and had a good first peak season.
Mr N.B Gurung of the Global Logistics firm has an office in Thimphu and Phuntholing and seven working staffs.
Handloom Centre opened by Mrs Nidup Zangmo in Lhuntse (eastern Bhutan) is seeing good customers from all parts of the country.
In August,2010 Dorji Tashi, the coordinator organized the first formal LEP meeting which was attended by 10 entrepreneurs who exchanged their views on the challenges faced by new businesses and to build working relationships.
