Loden Early Learning Centres

Loden Early Learning Centre in Ura

Early Learning Centre, Ura, BumthangLoden Early Learning Centre, Ura

The Loden Foundation opened its first Early Learning Centre in Ura in April, 2008. With the experience gained from the first Centre, Loden opened its second Early Learning Centre in Changmari, Samtse in mid 2009. The centre was founded at the request of the local people and successfully completed its third and second year respectively.

There are many day care centres and kindergartens in the cities but no place for early child development and learning in rural parts of Bhutan. This puts the rural children at disadvantage in education. Loden Early Learning Centres aim to give equal opportunities to the rural children and help them gain an early start in education.

With Rinzin and Pema in Ura ELC and Hema, Juna and Om Prakash in Changmari to look after them, the children learnt motor skills, letters, numbers, nursery rhymes and some games. Until now about 150 children graduated from the Centres. We are hoping to expand the programme across Bhutan.

Kuzuzangpo La!

Welcome to the Loden Foundation, Bhutan's first registered charity. Loden is dedicated to fostering an enlightened and happy society in Bhutan through the promotion of education, learning and entrepreneurship among the Bhutanese children and young adults. Managed by a group of people with shared vision, interests and concerns, The Loden Foundation runs programmes to provide educational and entrepreneurial opportunities and facilities at preschool, school and post-school stages. We aim to contribute to the development of an educated ethos in Bhutanese communities and to promote awareness of Bhutanese culture and tradition in other parts of the world.
