Aims and Objectives
GENERAL ACTIVITIES
The Loden Foundation uses donations to fund activities under the three following broad categories:
I. SPONSORSHIP SCHEME
Hundreds of village students in the Himalayan countries do not go to school or abandon it prematurely because their families cannot afford a school uniform or few books. Even if they finish primary and secondary schooling, many promising students cannot pursue higher education due to lack of fund or information on where to seek funding. Such incentives as scholarships and prizes, which encourage innovation and research, are very few indeed and not generally known.
The Sponsorship scheme will be administered:
Most of the adults in the Himalayan countries are illiterate, but opportunities for the adult education are very rare. Most of the people also lack the basic knowledge of their religion, health, environment and so forth. Moreover, there is urgent need for liberal and vocational training among the educated youth.
The Programmes shall offer:
III. RESOURCE CENTRES
One of the main problems Himalayan youth are facing is the lack of access to information and knowledge. Although young people have thirst for knowledge and keen interest to pursue further education, most communities do not still have any library or internet facilities. With no access either to a library, information centre or the internet, the youth are deprived of access to educational materials, counselling and support. This lack of meaningful resources to occupy young people have also resulted in many youth problems including drugs abuse and petty crimes. Loden's aim is to build resource centre which can occupy the youth in educational activities as well as provide them access to more information and knowledge.
