Board of Trustees

Ashe Kunzang Choden

Ashe Kunzang Choden (Trustee and Director, Bhutan)
Ashe Kunzang Choden got her education in India and the United States. She is an acclaimed writer in Bhutan and a senior public figure involved in many social and charitable projects. The museum in Ogyen Choling, her original home, is an outcome of her vision and work.

Dasho Meghraj Gurung

Dasho Mehgraj Gurung (Trustee, Bhutan)
Dasho Meghraj is a retired senior civil servant. He was the head of various departments in the government and lives in Thimphu.

Dr. Karma Phuntsho

Karma Phuntsho (Trustee and Director)

Lopen Karma Phuntsho was trained as a monk in Bhutan and India, and received a M.St and D.Phil in Oriental Studies at Balliol College, Oxford. He was a researcher at CNRS, Paris and the Spalding Fellow for Comparative Religion at Clare Hall, Cambridge University. He is currently a researcher at the Department of Social Anthropology in Cambridge and he spends his time between Bhutan and the UK.

Aum Dago Beda

Aum Dago Beda (Trustee, Bhutan)

After graduating from Punjab University in 1979, she joined the Department of Tourism as Sales Manager. In 1991, with two colleagues, she started EthoMetho Tours & Treks, which is today a leading tour company in Bhutan. Aum Dago has set up and invested in numerous ventures, including a primary school, the first cable TV and private newspaper in Bhutan. An exemplary Bhutanese entrepreneur, she is looked up to as a symbol of a successful career woman. She spends most of her free time gardening and is a loving mother of three children.

Cheda received his Master of Laws ITC from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland. After serving as a legal representative in various ministries and departments, Cheda presently runs private legal firm which is first of its kind to be established in the Kingdom of Bhutan.

Bimla Rai (Trustee, Bhutan)

Bimla Rai joined one of the private schools as a teaching faculty member after her studies in Masters in Banking and Finance. Bimla presently runs financial consultancy firm (Niche Finance) in the heart of Thimphu. Bimla is one of the successful entrepreneurs of Loden Foundation.

Dorji is the core staff for the Loden Foundation in Bhutan. He got graduated with background in Bhutanese traditional culture and languages, Dorji worked in the Department of Information Technology before joining Loden.

Rinzin Lhamo

Programme Officer

Rinzing joined Loden on 1 August, 2010. She graduated from Sherubtse College with B. Com Honours as her ground of studies. She previously worked with Department of Energy under the Ministry of Economic Affairs as a Programme Co-ordinator.

Gerard Tardy

Gerard TardyGérard is a well known venture capitalist with thirty years of experience. He was the founder and manager of two major private equity firms, Cititcorp Venture Capital and Schroder Ventures in Paris and his own company, Sitka Limited in London.

He is a board member of several companies.

Dawa Dem

Dawa DemDawa was trained in sociology and has worked as gender advisor with SNV, education officer for UNICEF, Bhutan and a consultant for ADB. She has a Masters in Development Studies from IDS, Sussex and currently works for Resource Alliance in London.

Anne Tardy

anne tardyAnne Tardy is an author of children’s books and has founded and run a museum for children.

She translates Buddhist books from Tibetan to French and currently lives in London. Anne and Gerard are the main inspiration behind the LEP programme.

Dorji Wangchuk

Dorji WangchukDorji Wangchuk worked as an engineer for the Royal Government of Bhutan and has an MBA from Cambridge University. He worked for Standard Life and currently lives in London and works for Ernst and Young.

Isabelle Onians

Isabelle OniansIsabelle read Oriental Studies at Oxford University. With extensive knowledge of the Himalayan region, she currently works the Academic Director for SIT Study Abroad Kathmandu and leads study groups to Bhutan.

Alison Tay

alison tayBased in Singapore, Alison is a recruitment specialist with more than 15 years of Human Resource management and Executive Recruiting experience.  Alison received her B.A. degree in Economics and History from the National University of Singapore
