Loden Early Learning Centres |

There are many day care centres and kindergartens in
the cities but no place for early child development and learning in rural parts
of Bhutan. This puts the rural children at disadvantage in education. Loden
Early Learning Centres aim to give equal opportunities to the rural children
and help them gain an early start in education.

Loden Early Learning Centre in Ura
The Loden
Foundation opened its first Early Learning Centre in Ura in April, 2008. The
centre was founded at the request of the local people and successfully
completed its first year. With Tshoki, Sonam and Pema to look after them, the
children learnt motor skills, letters, numbers, nursery rhymes and some games.
The centre saw 32 regular attendees in 2008 and about a quarter of them
‘graduated' to join the Ura School. We are now planning on opening a second one
in Samtse soon and it is our hope to expand the programme across Bhutan.
